On Wednesday 15 March, our lovely Nateby Club ladies enjoyed an historic tour of Shene Estate and Distillery followed by a delightful morning tea, served in the remarkable 1851 stables, and a gin tasting in the converted barn. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all our Alumni who were fascinated to learn the story of the Estate’s conservation.

The Kernke family has been conserving Shene Estate for over a decade. Shene Estate is the country residence of early colonialist Gamaliel Butler. Shene’s colourful past has direct links with King George III and Governor Lachlan Macquarie, as well as World Heritage Sites. Today, in addition to being home to the Kernke family, it is also home to the Shene Estate Distillery. The Kernke family privately conserves this historic site and are passionate about sharing the story of Shene Estate.

For over 22 years, the Nateby Club has provided the means for members of the Fahan Community, including students and staff, to keep in touch with their fellow Alumni at a range of wonderful events. In celebrating 50 years since their graduation from Fahan, Alumni are invited to join the Nateby Club and enjoy the benefits of this special association with the School, partaking in events designed specifically for them.
