On Friday 26 May, Fahan School Year 12 girls hosted a very successful cocktail evening to raise money for their two chosen charities, The Freya Fund and the Hobart Women’s Shelter.

The Freya Fund was established to support families with critically or chronically ill children with severe disabilities and the Hobart Women’s Shelter has been providing crisis accommodation and support to women and children for over 40 years. Both charities directly support local Tasmanians.

Over 80 people attended the evening and the Year 12 girls did a magnificent job of securing almost 60 prizes for their silent auction, including a number of big ticket items.  This resulted in an entertaining bidding race in the live auction run by Mark Thomas.

“The Year 12 girls worked extremely hard on the night to make the event such a great success. The efforts and generosity from supporting businesses donating items made it such a wonderful event to be a part of," said Head Girl, Isabella Alcorso.

The evening raised over $10,000 to support the girls’ chosen charities.
