The Echidna
Like the platypus , the echidna or spiny anteater, mammal. The
echidna are ununique in being the only egg - laying mammals .
Echidnas are found only in Australia and New Guinea where they
live in varied environments such as rain forests, scrublands and
arid regions.
Echidna's are sometimes wrongly called porcupines, which are
animals found in Europe and America. Echidns are small animals
growing to about 50 cm in length including the snout which is long
and tubular. The body is covered with course brown hair that is
really spikey and if you touch it your finger will bleed.

A Tasmanian devil is about the size of a small
dog. It has short thick black fur with a white collar and a short
tail. It is the largest meat eating marsupial that lives in
Australia.
The devil usually hunts at night time to catch small birds and
other small animals to eat with its strong powerful jaws. They
like to live in caves or thick scrub.
