Several hundred students donned the blue and orange for the first day of the 2011 Fahan School year. Staff welcomed back familiar faces and enjoyed the chance to meet many new students who have joined the Fahan community this year.

Students in the Middle and Senior Schools also gathered together for the formal induction of the 2011 Student Leaders.

Reverend Mark Holland and Principal, Tony Freeman, spoke to the new Student Leaders, staff and students about what it means to be a leader.

“At Fahan we recognise the importance of student leadership by the senior students in the school. This is leadership that is not a reflection of title or position, rather one which provides the opportunity to give of one’s self for the benefit of others,” Mr Freeman said.

The 2011 Student Leaders made assurances to the School community to undertake their roles to the best of their ability and to best serve the student population.

Each of these 13 students has been an outstanding member of the Fahan community over the years. They have each performed their academic work, extracurricular activities and responsibilities to an exceptional level and proven that they are fit to represent the student body and the School.

In classrooms throughout the School, from Kindergarten to Year 12, students have expressed their enthusiasm and excitement at being back, or starting out, at Fahan for another exceptional year. This goes for the Kindergarten students who have been eagerly anticipating their first day, so much so that they have been wearing their Fahan uniforms all summer long, as well as the Year 12 girls who are in their final year of secondary education and already contemplating their future beyond Fahan’s walls.

We would like to welcome warmly all students, parents and staff to Fahan in 2011, for what we are sure will be another outstanding year in education.
