Congratulations to Year 9 student, Emma Schoeman, who has been named the Overall Tasmanian Winner of the 2025 What Matters? Writing Competition - a fantastic achievement!
Inspired by Gough Whitlam’s belief in the importance of young voices shaping our nation’s future, the What Matters? competition invites students from Years 5–12 to respond to the simple question ‘what matters?’ The competition invites students to share their views on any issue that matters to them, through fiction, non-fiction, poetry or prose.
In her entry, Artificial Intelligence: A Mirror of Our Minds, Emma combined keen insight, creativity, and a distinctive voice to create a work that was both engaging and thought-provoking. Emma was presented her Award last week and has been invited to Sydney for the National Awards in September. Congratulations to Emma for this wonderful achievement and we wish her the best of luck at the National Awards!
