Success at State Athletics

The Fahan School Team followed up their admirable performance in the Southern SATIS Athletics Carnival with another commendable result in the SATIS (State) Carnival on Saturday 18 October at the Domain Athletics Centre Hobart.

The team finished third of 15 schools in the Junior Girls Shield (beating all other Hobart schools),  sixth of 11 schools in the Senior Girls Shield and fourth of 11 schools in the overall Girls’ Aggregate Shield.

These results demonstrate the girls’ high levels of commitment to training over the past few months. A special thank you to Head Coach, Mr Rob Owens who led the girls in their training and preparation.

The following girls gained a “Top 3” placing in the listed events:

Opens

Tessa Johns – 1st 3000m, 1st 1500m

Ella Ross – 3rd High Jump

Georgia Parry – 3rd Shot Put

Under 16s

Liz Browne – 2nd 100m, 3rd 200m

Mel Johnson – 2nd Shot Put

Jess Robinson – 2nd Discus

Liz Browne, Charlotte Bell, Olivia Young, Jess Robinson – 2nd 4 x 100m Relay

Under 15s

Emily Canham – 1st Javelin

Daisy Murphy – 2nd 1500m

Amy Pailthorpe – 2nd 90m Hurdles

Under 14s

Jane Hickie – 2nd Long Jump, 3rd Shot Put

Under 13s

Saffy Warden, Bella Farid, Lucy Taranto, Sophie Young – 1st 4 x 100m Relay

Along side these high placings; many other girls placed personal best performances on the day.
