From Friday 14 – Saturday 16 September, the Alumni Reunion Weekend saw over 200 alumni who graduated from 1948-52, 1958-62, 1968, 1978, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2013 and 2017 reunite with former classmates and teachers. Alumni travelled from around Australia and events included Alumni v Student sport matches, a delicious lunch, and a cocktail party in the School’s new Food and Digital Technology Hub.

The first event was a breakfast on Friday morning, where the Alumni Association offered Year 12 girls the chance to bring a guest who has supported them during their time at Fahan.

The Netball and Hockey matches were played in great spirit, with plenty of lively banter between the teams, according to Peri Buckley from the Class of 1978, who was part of the Alumni hockey team narrowly beaten by the Students (1-0). In the Netball, the Alumni claimed a hard-fought 7-5 victory.  Following the trophy presentation and a BBQ, Alumni were invited to tour the School with the Principal, Mr Tony Freeman.

The cocktail party brought more than 100 former Fahan girls back to the School. Guests were welcomed by a violin performance from Year 12 student Maja Burggraaff and enjoyed drinks and scrumptious canapés from Peppermint Ridge Catering, served by Alumni Association members and Year 11 and 12 girls.

The lunch, held at Seagrass in Sandy Bay, included a Q&A session with former staff members Mrs Myrna Bedding, Mrs Marlene Lette, and Mrs Margaret Cormack.

Alumni Association President, Caroline Burbury, said: “It was just a fantastic weekend.  It is so much fun catching up with other alumni from across the decades, and really special to see so many of our alumni teachers join us for lunch on Saturday. We really enjoyed connecting with the students as well, with our Year 12 breakfast, at the sports matches, School Fair and at the Friday night function.”
