During the September holidays, 14 students from Years 9–11 set off on a fantastic 16-day study tour of Japan. The group explored Tokyo, Miyajima, Hiroshima and Kyoto, experiencing Japan’s rich culture, history and way of life.
A highlight of the trip was a five-day homestay with students from our sister schools, Tokyo Jogakkan and Yokohama Eiwa. Welcomed into Japanese family homes, students attended local classes and experienced daily life in Japan - visiting temples, watching a sumo match and trying local Japanese dishes.
From Miyajima’s quiet beauty to the vibrancy of Tokyo, students experienced Japan’s contrasts - reflection at Hiroshima’s Peace Park, exploration in Shibuya and pure fun at Tokyo Disneyland.
Students returned home with greater confidence in their Japanese language skills, and lasting friendships. Thank you to Mrs Enright and Miss Hutchinson for making this incredible experience possible for the students and for the care and support they provided throughout the journey.
