In Term 2, our Year 9 students took part in the Lumina 9 Outdoor Learning Camp, spending the week learning both on campus and along Tasmania's East Coast.

Designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, the camp combined outdoor adventure, academic exploration and personal development through a diverse range of experiences.

Students camped at Kelvedon, prepared their own meals on Trangias, explored the history of Swansea, welcomed the day with sunrise walks and swims, and participated in wellbeing activities at Orford. Along the way, they developed confidence, strengthened teamwork and embraced new challenges.

Back on campus, Mathematics and Science lessons took learning into real-world settings, while Mindset and Exploration (ME) workshops encouraged students to build practical skills in wellbeing, communication, self-defence, mindfulness and personal reflection.

A key part of the Lumina 9 program, the Outdoor Learning Camp encourages students to build independence, deepen friendships and develop a greater understanding of themselves through shared experiences and meaningful challenge.

Our thanks go to the staff, facilitators and guest presenters who made the week possible. It was rewarding to see our Year 9 students embrace the opportunities the week provided with curiosity, resilience and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones.
