In 2022, an outstanding 58% of our girls achieved an ATAR of 85+, placing them in the top 15% of students nationally.
In 2022, an outstanding 97% of our girls achieved an ATAR. Over the last 15 years, Fahan School has always had one of the highest percentage of Year 12 students achieving university entrance of any school in the State."What makes these results all the more remarkable is Fahan's non-selective enrolment process," said Principal, Mrs Meg Lawson. "We pride ourselves on helping each student become the best she can be."
Fahan School has earned another sizeable feather to add to its school hat - the distinguished honour of being ranked Number 1 School in Tasmania in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and in recent years, one of the Top 100 in Australia in both the primary and secondary categories.
Fahan alumna and 2010 Tasmanian Rhodes Scholar recipient, Rhea Longley agrees. "I am a firm believer in the opportunity small class sizes give students to learn and mature. I had such great, supportive, inspirational teachers who believed in every one of us and made sure we were equipped to achieve what we wanted in later life," said Rhea.
Rhea undertook her PhD at Oxford University, where she studied Malaria Immunology and researched into helping find a vaccine for malaria. Rhea has now been able to take a joint postdoctoral position between the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne and Mahidol Uni, Thailand, enabling her to conduct malaria research in a malaria-endemic setting.
